Teen attitudes to exercise shape fitness years later

New research led by Flinders University shows that teens who view exercise as fun, social and good for their health are significantly more fit by the end of adolescence than those motivated by competition, pressure or fear of judgment. Tracking more than 1,000 youth ages 14 to 17, researchers found that early attitudes toward physical activity strongly predict measurable aerobic fitness three years later.
