Google announced On Wednesday, a new migration experience was built directly into Android 17 that will make it easier to switch from iPhone to Android. Google says the feature lets users wirelessly transfer more data types from iPhone to iPhone without downloading a separate app.
By simplifying the onboarding process and supporting more data types, the tech giant wants to lower the barriers to switching smartphone ecosystem as it aims to attract more iPhone users.
With this new method, users can transfer photos, videos, contacts, messages, calendars, and newly supported data types including their Google Account, passwords, Wi-Fi credentials, and even their eSIM when switching from iPhone to Android.
The upgrade has already rolled out for select Pixel devices, and is also available on the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 and Z Fold8 series that were unveiled today. Google says the new migration method will also come to more Android devices soon.
