United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby said Monday that American Airlines “refused to engage” in merger talks between the two companies, arguing that it would benefit travelers in the US. In a lengthy press release, Kirby said he “approached American” about the merger because he “thought we could do something incredible for them”.
