Time is running out for Gov. DeWine to take a side on the death penalty


Shortly after taking office in 2019, Governor Mike DeWine placed a sort of unofficial moratorium on executions in the Buckeye State. But Ohio’s thoughtful and respected chief executive has yet to say what he thinks about whether the state should abolish the death penalty or whether he will commute the death sentences of 113 Ohioans before leaving office next January.
