Nikolaj Ehlers returns to lineup for Carolina Hurricanes

The 30-year-old Ehlers returned to practice this week as the Hurricanes await their second-round opponent. In his first season with Carolina, Ehlers had 26 goals and 71 points as the Hurricanes reached the East’s No. 1 seed. He played in three games against Ottawa, recording one assist while averaging 20:01 time on ice.

On the back end of Carolina, the Hurricanes, as of Saturday morning skate, were still awaiting news on the rookie. Alexander Nikishin for the opener against Philadelphia at Lenovo Center.

During Game 4 vs. Ottawa, Nikishin was ejected in the second period after taking a concussion hit tyler clevenLeaving the rescuer lying on the ice and struggling to get back on his feet.

Nikishin was diagnosed with a concussion and had not yet completed the league’s concussion protocols, although he has been practicing with the team.
