Famous competitor Joy “Jawed” Chestnut on Friday left his title in Nathan’s famous fourth July Hot Dog Eating Competition after the first year gastronomic battle in New York for the prestigious mustard belt in New York.
The 41 -year -old Chestnut consumed 70½ hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes, which declined by 76 Vainers and Bans’ records on July 4, 2021. It marked the 17th win for Westfield, Indiana, Eater in the 17th win television competition, which missed a contract dispute in 2024.
In the Women’s Division, Mickey Sudo of Tampa, Florida, won her 11th title in the Women’s Division, giving the best to a dozen contestants, dropping 33 dogs. Last year, he ate a record 51.
A large crowd, wearing several foam hot dog hats, was seen annual Eat-a-Thon held outside the famous restaurant in the original Nathan at Koni Island in Brooklyn since 1972.
Chestnut best made the US and internationally 14 fellow contestants at the international level including Australia, Czech Republic, Ontario, England and Brazil.
Last year, George Shea, organizer of the Major League Eating event, said that Chestnut would not participate in the competition due to a contract dispute. Chestnut made a deal with a competitive brand, plant-based meat company impossible foods.
Chestnut told The Associated Press last month that it had never appeared in any advertisements for the company’s vegetarian hot dog and is the only hot dog company in Nathan with which he has worked. But Chestnut admitted that he should “be more clear with Nathan.”
Last year, Chestnut ate 57 dogs – in just five minutes – in an exhibition with troops at Fort Bliss in Texas’s El Paso. He said that the incident was “amazing” and he was still happy to give a chance to eat hot dogs – many of them – July fourth.
“I am glad I did this, but I am actually happy to come back to the island of Koni,” he said.
Last year in New York, Chicago’s Patrick Bartoleti earned 58 to earn the title of men.
