Columbia, MD–The Baltimore Ravens More than 6,000 season-ticket holders gathered at a local concert venue Thursday night to unveil the biggest changes to their uniforms in 27 years.
The detail that made headlines on the night was a new alternate black helmet, which will be worn when the team wears its black jerseys and pants. The matte black helmet features black talon stripes and a two-toned Ravens logo on the front, highlighting the red eyes visible over the tunnel during player introductions to the stadium.
“We wanted kind of a wow factor that the black helmet really made for the dark uniforms,” said Brad Downs, Ravens senior vice president of marketing. “He really proved to be a hero to people who really wanted to see us make more drastic changes.”
Other changes include a pattern on the collar of the jersey’s three primary colors, depicting a raven’s outstretched wings, a nod to the feather features included in the team’s original 1996 logo set. “Baltimore” is now on the front of its white jerseys (usually worn on the road), and the purple, black and Purple Rising jerseys also include the name “Baltimore” on the back collar.

A new alternate purple helmet was also introduced and features the primary Ravens logo, allowing interchangeability with additional similar combinations.
The process of completing the new uniform collection – dubbed “The Next Flight” – took three years.
“We wanted it to still feel like the Ravens,” Downs said. “We saw it as an evolution. We didn’t see it as a completely fresh, completely new uniform.”
The two-and-a-half-hour program at Meriwether Post Pavilion included interviews with new head coach Jesse Minter and his coordinators, team president Sashi Brown and members of the team’s Ring of Honor. It ended with the current players taking to the stage in a new formula.
