Automatic CEO Matt Mulenveg confirmed that the company is no longer working on migrating its tumbller blogging platform to WordPress, as was announced earlier. Execution shared the news Dickoder Podcast of The VergePublished on Monday, saying that the project is “on hold” indefinitely.
He said, “What we have decided is that we want to focus on things that are worth noting for users and are asking for users,” he told the site. “It was like a infrastructure, like any big architecture. I still want to do it. It’s just a cleaner. But right now, we are not working on it.”
The announcement also raises the question of what it means for the integration of Tumbller with the Open Social Web, known as Feders. By migrating its infrastructure in WordPress, it must have become a federated app. Mulenveg believes that it was one of the arguments to make steps, but indicates that it is no longer a priority.
“… Meanwhile, I think if there was a big push to apply the Feders, we would just do it on the Tumbller code base,” he said.
Mulenveg also reiterated that Tumblr is not beneficial, and is constant from the profits of other automatic products. Nevertheless, he said that he believes in the future of Tumblr and plans to give it a runway that needs to detect things.
