Exertion tests offer insight into recovery from youth concussions

Researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Scottish Right for Children (SRC) found that clinical examinations that include gait analysis after physical exertion can provide insight into how youth are recovering and help determine if they are ready to return to sports. Their study, published in the Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine, showed significant differences in the walking patterns and cognitive abilities of injured youth following an experimental protocol.
