NWSL’s Denver close to finalizing Cushing as first coach

Denver’s 2026 NWSL expansion is close to finalizing Nick Kushing’s fare as the first head coach of the Team Club, several sources confirmed ESPN.

Kushing Manchester City Women and MLS Side are former head coaches of New York City FC.

He has spent the last two decades with the City Football Group, initially joined the organization as an academy coach in 2006.

He was the full -time head coach of NYCFC for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. The team failed to qualify for the playoffs in 2023 and finished sixth at the Eastern Conference in 2024.

Denver General Manager Kurt Johnson First told ESPN He was giving priority to “getting the right person”, but that the right coach also needed to be available.
