Google is getting (back) into the smart glasses game.
Tuesday at Google I/OThe company announced a new partnership with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster to produce a new line of AI-powered glasses. The company says the devices will integrate with Android and iOS devices and have been designed in collaboration with Samsung. They will be available later this year, the company said.
Google is calling the new devices “audio glasses,” which will allow users to issue verbal commands to them and work through its ecosystem of apps and services, including Gemini.

The user simply talks to his glasses (the demo shared Tuesday included a Googler ordering coffee online just by talking to the glasses), and the device, when synced, complies.
Google has dabbled in smart glasses several times over the past few years. It launched infamously google glass years ago, which ultimately helped give rise to the derogatory term “glassholes.”
However, the smart glasses space has changed a bit since then. Recently, major companies – notably Meta – and a small army of startups and smaller companies have invested in the sector.
