Peter Steinberger, who created the AI personal assistant now known as open pawHas joined OpenAI.
Formerly known as Claudebot, then Moltbot, OpenClaw gains viral popularity Over the past few weeks with its promise of being “AI that actually works,” whether it’s managing your calendar, booking flights, or even Joining a social network full of other AI assistants. (The name was first changed after Anthropic threatened legal action over its similarity to Cloud, then changed again because Steinberger liked the new name better.)
In A blog post announcing their decision As for joining OpenAI, the Austrian developer said that although he might be able to turn OpenClaw into a bigger company, “that’s not really exciting to me.”
“I want to change the world, not build a big company[,] And teaming up with OpenAI is the fastest way to bring this to everyone,” said Steinberger.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman posted on X That Steinberger will “lead the next generation of personal agents.” As for OpenClaw, Altman said it will “remain in a foundation as an open source project that OpenAI will continue to support”.
