Microsoft 365 hit by outage, preventing access to emails and files

Microsoft’s ongoing outage is preventing enterprise customers from accessing email inboxes, Files, Meetings, and other Microsoft cloud services.

The technology giant said in a post on x Around 2:30 a.m. ET it reported that the outage was caused by “a portion of the service infrastructure in North America that is not processing traffic as expected.” Microsoft did not provide specific details on the cause of the outage, but said it was “working to get the infrastructure back to a healthy state for recovery.”

Microsoft said on its status page The outage affects its Exchange Online email service, searching for files within SharePoint Online or OneDrive, and chatting, creating meetings or adding members to its video meeting platform, Teams.

The outage also prevents administrators from accessing their Microsoft Purview and Defender XDR security dashboards and their admin centers.

We will contact Microsoft for comment – as soon as our email, which is hosted by Microsoft, is back to normal.
