Uber Eats will use Starship sidewalk robots to deliver food in the UK

Uber Eats is partnering with sidewalk delivery robot company Starship Technologies to deliver food in the UK starting later this year.

The companies will launch the service “from selected merchants” in the Leeds and Sheffield areas in December and expand from there. Uber said the service will expand to “additional European markets in 2026” and the US in 2027.

The collaboration with Starship is the latest in a long series of partnerships by Uber with autonomous vehicle companies of all shapes and sizes. But Starship isn’t the first sidewalk robot company to work with Uber Eats. Uber’s food delivery arm uses robots from Serv Robotics in America for a few years uber started Using Avride’s Pavement Robot Even in the beginning of this year.

Starship claims to have around 3,000 of its six-wheeled delivery robots operating in more than 270 different locations around the world. Robots typically make deliveries in less than 30 minutes and travel no more than two miles.
