Jaguar Land Rover said on Wednesday that an unspecified amount of data was stolen during a cyber attack which has brought the vehicle assembly lines to a standstill.
In a statement On Wednesday, the UK -based manufacturer of Land Rover and Range Rover vehicles said that it was known that “some data” was taken in the incident.
Companies working in the UK are bound to inform the Information Commissioner’s Office within three days of the discovery of data breech. It is not immediately clear whether the data is related to the company, its employees or customers.
Jaguar Land Rover revealed the cyber attack on 2 September, saying the incident forced the company to shut down its system, which “severely interrupted” its production line and sales tasks. The incident is also affecting the company’s supply chains, including the repair of the vehicle.
Car manufacturer is one of the largest employers in the UK, with more than 33,000 employees. Per A newspaper reportUK government officials are said to be concerned about the economic decline of violations, and a recovery is expected to take a week, not the day.
