with 2025 MLB Draft Day 1 Complete, it is time to see which pick was the most standing in the first round.
After weeks of speculation about different directions Washington National Number 1 can go with the pick, he surprised the industry Oklahoma High School Shortstop Elli Wilits – and this Los angels angels UC Santa Barbara Pitcher Tyler took Bremmer and followed with a stunning pick of his own at number 2
Although the nature of the baseball draft means that some pics we are not sure about day 1, when we see how teams have spread their bonus allocation in the draft later, here are early pics that I like the most and are still entering the day 2 available with top players along with some eyes-opening selection as well as some eyes opening selections.
Five favorite tricks
Mariners and pirates get their friends
The discussion leading to the draft was that Ked Anderson Mariners were above the draft board and Seth Hernandez Pirates had top targets (after the Willits, who were not going there). Seattle was the second team that was taking a long look at Hernandez, but on the top two pics, Xinigs (later) means both Seattle and Pittsburgh got their favorite weapons.

Athletics had only two pics on day 1, but each gained excellent values. The draft entering the Jamie Arnold season was the top probability and after an uneven season looked primend to go somewhere between No. 2 and No. 8. He was prone to the small straw, falling on the 11th pick in any way. Dewin Taylor was in the mixture in many pics in the compress round, but in the second round ran for five selements.
Twin children quickly and embrace risk with youth
Twins took two hit-first college infielders in the form of their first pics (Kalen Kulpeper and Kyle Deberge) last year, took another in 2023 seconds rounds (Luke Keshell), and two in the top two rounds in 2022 (Brooks Lee, Tanner Skobel)-took one with his first pick this year.
Although I am interested, what did Minnesota do after that, took large swings with relay quick (four potential plus pitches but down-to-high command) and Quentin Young (80-grade power capacity with large questions at the contact rate).
Phillies Reliever tries to jump the trade market?
Gauge Wood has a chance to start a long period, but can also go for the upper minors – if there are no large leagues – and potentially help the bulpanes later this season, such as in addition to the trading deadline. The next pick of phillies, Cade OberMueller, is another potential starter, which can quickly proceed quickly as a labti with two knockout pitches in its fastball/slider combo at the end of the month at the end of this month. Auds are good that at least one of them can provide a large league price in the next 12 months if Phili wants to use them in this way.
Red Sox Land Fate Spoon, Philips and Eyeson
Red Sox is interested in creating more pitching depths and selecting many interesting weapons on day 1. Kyson Witherspoon was very interested in the top 10, but Red Sox found him at number 15.
He will need to accelerate his execution a notch and his short arm action is unique, but there is midrotation reverse. Marcus Philips has a chance to start, but can also bring another specific form in the form of late inn arm with a low slot and triple-design fastball with four plus pitches. Anthony Eyeson is of a different kind, which has a terrible fastball velocity, but a standout command with a slider and splitter that keeps the hitters off-balance.
Five eyes opening
Ellie Wilits at No. 1
The further discussion from the draft was that there were three players in playing for the top pick and the Willitts was my third-ranked player in the class, so the same group is what I was considering-and I love the Willits as a player. The bonus would be a factor in evaluating how successful this pick will be seen – I think it starts with an eight – but I think it will be seen as a solid decision, until Ked becomes Anderson or Ethan Holiday stars.
Tyler Bremmer at No. 2
The biggest piece of late buzz that I was listening to is that Breminer was playing for mariners at number 3. I did not hear her name at number 2, making it the first shocker in the draft.
Brezers were considered in this area (on a deal) because it could easily be the best pitcher in this class – but only if he can develop a better slider, which is not a small. Angels feel that there is an idea about how to resolve it, and how he moves forward, will be one of the more following stories of this draft.
Tigers take yost and oliveto
I like both players, but it is attractive that both of these and the most room was bound by the hotter -hit Detroit that they did not take (Cay James, who had a difficult heat) all remembering the 2024 summer performance.
Jordan Yost and Michael Oliveto were only two prep status players in the first round mixture, not in major national programs on the summer circuit, thus creating great uncertainty about how to project them.
Tigers are perfect to believe that it can cause a potentially quick advantage in value if Yost and Oliveto can perform early in their pro careers, but I do not remember that a team is not remembered by looking at a team doubled over the lack of summer risk in the early stages.
Oriols take two catcher in the first round, and in the second two pitchers
It is certainly a bit strange that Oriols took two college catches with their first two pics after taking another one (Ethan Anderson) in the second round last year. Obviously, teams do not have a draft for a large league – O is already Adle Rutsman of O – and they require at least two catchers in all four full season Minor League colleagues, it is strange to see them investing several times. And after all the players of all the situation they have drafted under Mike Elias, he secretly made two weapons in two weapons with Joseph Desyarva (one command-farward lamina) and JT Quin (one of one of the pro-balls) in two weapons with two weapons in two weapons).
