Memphis, tenn. – Officials on Monday asked the public to provide surveillance footage and sought details from eyewitnesses as they investigate the deadly shooting of an Ole Miss Freshman football player in a memphis neighborhood after a pool party.
Anthony Bakner, the chief deputy of the Shelby County Sheriff Office, said Kori Edams, an 18 -year -old protective lineman from New Orleans, was found with a gunshot inside a vehicle at a crossroads on Saturday night at a intersection in the Memphis suburb of Cordova. Adams died in place of shooting,
Four other people, who faced gunshot wounds, who were not fatal, arrived in nearby hospitals in individual vehicles. Three of them were released from the hospital by Monday afternoon, said Bakner.
Shooting took place after attending a pool party by about 100 people, including Adams, Bakner said during a news conference. About 40 rifles and pistol casting were found in the shooting scene.
No arrests have been made. Bakner asked the members of the public, who may have useful information for investigators, including monitoring footage from video cameras in neighboring homes to come forward.
Bakner said, “We still have more questions, because we have answers.” “We know that people have seen or heard something.”
Adams, who played at Edna Carr High School at New Orleans, is listed on the Ole Miss Football website as a 6-Foot-4, 235-Pound Defense End. He was one of the top defensive linemen recruits in the country.
Adams’s mother, who spoke at the news conference, but refused to be nominated for fears of vengeance, said that Adams was a loving son and brother who was expected to play in NFL. He said that Adams took time out of practice and went to Memphis to enjoy himself.
Memphis Oxford is about 85 miles north of Mississippi, where Ole Miss is located.
Edna Karr Coggors wrote in a Facebook post that “the words cannot describe this type of pain.”
“Corey Adams was more than a football player! He was around a friend, brother, son, student and great young man,” read by the post of the team. “We never question God but this is what we do not understand.”
