Independents are running a moment. And powerful people are listening and answering.

IndependentGoing to officeThe need to attract attention to their exclusion from voting in primary and speak of the need to develop protests beyond the red-bamin-neck dogma to speak at the local, state and national levels.
Independents are not speaking under the banner of an organization, not under the banner of the same organization, acting, but as a growing decentralized movement, we demand real changes, which we do politics.
For years, the media made independent voters very lazy for “choosing a team” as “party leaners” or indifferent fences. Those days have gone. Independents want to clean the dirt. We are having a new conversation and politicians are starting listening.
So where do we go from here? Before looking forward, we are helpful in looking backwards.
In 2024, reform activists took measures on voting in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Idaho, Montana, Nevada and South Dakota and completely eliminated biased primary and replaced them with a single ballot nonpartison primary. In addition, Washington DC had a measure on the ballot, so that freedom could be allowed to vote in biased primary.
DC passed with remedyMore than 70 percent votesOther measures failed. In 2024, it was completely revealed that there are no quick improvements or shortcuts.
We have to build the trust, and create a diverse and authentic alliance of Democrats, Republicans and Independents. We have to educate voters about problems with closed primary and importance of voting in primary, which isOf my organizationTarget. We have to take campaigns and initiatives that are running, organic and connected to people, not installed from above.
Polls show thatLess than 20 percentCurrent, partisan-controlled off primary system such as Americans. But this is to create campaigns, initiatives and activities on us that earn people’s trust. If we do not, our opponents will have lunch.
Therefore, the hugs of the open primary by the legislators who opposed us just six months ago.
Steve Yezer, the Democratic Assembly Speaker in Nevada (where independents are now the largest block of registered voters) and the author of the Open Primary Bill Vitated by Gover Joe Lombardo (R), actively opposed the ballot measurement 3 in 2024.
After measurement, 53 percent to 47 percent defeated, YearHas publicly statedHe was not resisting to open the primary, just the specific form was being upgraded in ballot measurements. Local activists Sondra Cosgrove and Dag Goodman took the opportunity to pressurize the Jerizer to do something, if he was really in his position, and for his credit, he did.
The result was AB 597, which would allow freedom to vote in biased primary, although this refuses them to reach the President’s primary and claims the overall party control of the process.
It was not an ideal bill, and eventually it wasGovernorBut this is a reflection of the increasing strength of freedom.
Legislative progress in New Mexico and Nevada is examples of freedom to claim our political power and do so as a movement, not as a party. (Independents do not like especially political parties).
But we need to tell voters and MPs equally that we are starting now and we will not rest until all Americans can vote in every taxpayer-funded election, what they want.
Independent voters are speaking, and parties are answering. They believe that our number is increasing, we decide the election and they need to give us something. But they also want to catch their privilege.
The challenge and opportunity for independent voter-opinion primary movement is to convince these benefits, which are lost without the need to work more.
American people are very clear. They want a political culture that is responsible for partners, new, common people and effective in improving our lives. Independent is an engine for such change. Let’s bow into it.
