Anaheim, California– atlanta braves pitcher Reynaldo Lopez And Los Angeles Angels designated hitter george soler The two players were thrown out after a dispute between them on Tuesday night.
Soler charged to the mound after Lopez threw a high inside pitch that was overturned. jonah hammGlove in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Lopez raised his hands first and the two glared at each other, before both began exchanging punches. When players from both teams tried to separate the two, the benches became empty. Atlanta manager Walt Weiss was among those who dealt with Soler.
Lopez was holding the baseball when he punched Soler’s batting helmet.
Soler struck out López in his first at-bat, then was hit by a pitch in his second at-bat. When the dustup occurred, the Braves were leading 4–2.
López pitched 4⅔ innings, giving up two runs on three hits with seven strikeouts. Soler finished with a home run and two RBI.
The Angels won 6-2 on Monday in the first game of a three-game series.
