The New York-Razor Clemens returned to the Yanki Stadium on Saturday, and so 25 years ago questioned his batting incident with Mike Pijia in the world series.
Piaza was batting against Clemens in the first innings of game 2 of the 2000 World Series, when her bat shattered with the first-base line. Clamens picked up this part and fired towards the Hall of Fame Catcher.
Clemens made his debut in Yenkis’s Old-Timers Day Game on Saturday and has faced four batsmen in the first exhibition game of the event since 2019. In the 2000 championship team, his manager defended the tasks of the pitcher in that bat against Piaza.
“There is still a question with a broken bat, with the whole thing in Piaza and Game 2,” Joe Torre said on the podium that went into a clamor.
Clamens recorded his first presence as Yencis honored the 2000 team, the last team to win three directly. Clamens heard a good hand from the crowd, which was an assembling of highlights played on the Center Field Video Board – but left his famous toss in Piage.
“I didn’t know he was running and Mike said the same thing,” Clemens said. “He did not know where the baseball was. So my first instinct when I broke that bat into about four pieces, I felt that it was a baseball that was coming to me.”
Before dismissing A game 5 on the road in the Division Series, Yankis jointly overtaken 22–3 in 1998 and 1999 posts, but lost 15 of his final 18 regular season games several times in 2000. After defeating Seattle in six-game Alcs, Yenkis defeated Mets in Five-Game Fall Classic, where each game was fixed for two runs or less.
In 1999, Clemens joined Yanki in a business with Toronto during spring training. He was 14–10 with 4.60 ERA in 1999 and then with 3.70 ERA in 2000 with 13–8. During Postsen, Clamens won three games, including Game 2 against Mats.
“When he was in another team, you didn’t like him very much,” said Tore.
After two sessions of the on-field question and the answer session with Radio Broadcaster Suzin Waldman, the game returned and Johnny Demon hit the RBI Single of Clemens.
Clemens was one of the 2000 Yanki in the event that did not have the facility of former Captain Derek Jetter. After the last player introduced by Mariano Riviera, the jetter gave a tape video message.
“He was in spring training,” the fellow pitcher Andy Petit said about Clemens. “So it was good to see him in spring training and then definitely. A large part of our 2000 team and it was good.”
Not only the former player was introduced, the current manager was Aaron Boon, whose team entered seven matches with six defeats on Saturday.
Seven-time Sai Young Award winner, Clemens stood third on 354–184 with 3.12 ERA and 4,672 strikeouts, Nolan Ryan (5,714) and Randy Johnson (4,875). In two stents with yankis, Clemens was 83–42 with 4.01 ERA and retired after the 2007 season.
He was nominated in the Mitchell report in December 2007 and denied the tree use. In 2022, in its final year on the BBWAA Hall of Fame Bellet, Clemens received 257 votes (65.2%).
In addition to the 2000 team members, Willy Randolf, Greg Netles, Chris Chambalis, Ron Guidri, Baki Dent and Mickey River were introduced as members of the 1977 and 1978 world chain teams.
Widows of five -time manager Billy Martin, Captain Thurman Munsan and Bobby Mursor were also introduced as part of an incident, which began in 1947 when Ty Cob and Babe Ruth first appeared.
