Active shooter confirmed at Fort Stewart in Georgia: authorities

Fort Stewart, Ga. ,WSAV) – Fort Stewart confirmed an active shooter, and according to Major Charles Egan, the casualties are still being evaluated.

Lieutenant Colonel Angel Tomko of Division Pio said that the incident took place in the 2D brigade area, located away from highway 144 near Sunbury Road, which is about 43 miles south -western from Savannah. Brigade, which is not located in the main Fort Stewart area, is currently closed, as well as the Right Army Airfield, which is located about 3 miles.

Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield (FSHAA) commander has released a lockdown in the 2ABCT area. Lockdown includes Wright and Evans Army Airfield.

FSHAA confirmed through Facebook that Fort Stewart Dodia is also at the school lockdown. However, there is no immediate threat to schools.

There is a crew along the way in WSAV, Nexstar.

FSHAA said on a Facebook post, “Lock your convenience immediately, stay in, close all windows and doors. Keep the telephone lines open and report accountability for your leadership.”
