Detroit-Cleysa Shields successfully defended her undisputed heavyweight crown with a unanimous decision win with Little Kaiser Arena, a strict-native-native Lani Daniel at Little Kaiser Arena on Saturday night.
The judges scored 100–90, 99–91, 99–91 in favor of Shields, which was on his A-game.
“He fought a tough battle, and I hit Lani with some big shots,” said Shields. “I broke her from the body. I broke her on her head. I mixed her on it. Lani is very difficult, and I knew that she would be difficult to just see her quarrel and I could tell that she works at her speed.”
This victory first marked that Shields (17–0, 3 KO) fought twice a year since 2022. She said she welcomes all the major challenges heading in her career, including possible demonstrations against retired champion Laila Ali and welterweight champion Mikela Mayor.
“I am going to live in heavyweight and hopefully there will be big quarrels with French Crew, Che Kennelli. I want to fight Laila Ali,” said Shields. “We put $ 15 million for the fight and we have not heard anything yet.
“Hopefully she saw the fight tonight and says,” You know what? I think I can take him. ” So, hopefully he saw it tonight and tell us yes, but I just want to make the best quarrels and the biggest quarrels, and whatever it is. ,
In February, Shields made history as the first boxer – male or female – – as a heavyweight in his hometown flint, Michigan, with a unanimous decision win on Danielle Perkins to achieve undisputed position in three weight divisions.
Daniels, IBF Light Heavyweight Champion, fought for the last time in September and won seven direct fights before losing against Shields. He fought a good battle in later era.
“I knew that she wanted to avoid the round only, but she tried to come around 8 or 9, but I still feel that I won every round and even defeated her with her back against ropes,” Shields said.
Rapper Rick Ross 15,369 sales-outs were with Shields during their ring walk in front of the crowd. In the first two rounds, Shields searched for a big shot, as Daniel danced around the ring. At one point, he also exchanged some fickle antics as Shields taunted him to stand and fight.
Shields controlled in round 5, wore Daniel down with body shots. Shields also showed their jab, caught Daniel with clean shots in round 6 and 7.
In the eighth, ninth and 10th rounds, some success on Daniel ropes were able to find working slopes, but women’s boxing pound-for-pound queens and self-conscious guat- “The greatest woman of all time”-Daniel’s best punches were able to carry the best punches, as she came out with victory. He is now looking for a new challenge.
“It is very easy to beat these girls. Just as people think it is all about knockout, but it is as if I go there and I win 10 rounds easy,” Shields said. “All these girls talked about doing all this nonsense and now at the age of 175 and being a heavyweight champion, but when I was 154 years old, no one used to fight me. When I was 160 years old, I approved the division. Eleven approved the division.”
Former WBC Super Welterweight Champion Tony Harrison made a comeback to the ring as a co-main program with a unanimous decision on Edward Diaz of Dominican Republic. Harrison (30–4–1, 21 KOS) had not fought since 2023, when he fell down to TKO’s loss against Tim Tszu for the interim super welterweight crown, but he dropped Diaz (15–7, 12 kos) out on Saturday with a win in the 10th round.
A Detroit native Harrison was designed in full lion gear to represent his hometown on a large stage, but narrowly survived the knockdown in the ninth round, when he was clipped with a strong right -handed shot from Diaz.
“This is boxing. When I was caught it was not even like a punch that hurt me,” Herrison said. “I was really already falling from the balance. It was a kind of kind of kind, and I should have done five pushups because I was outstanding at this time. It was nothing that hurt me or nothing, but I was outstanding to be disciplined.”
