LA mayor signs executive order supporting immigrants amid federal raids

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D) signed on Friday executive Order Confirming the support of the city for immigrants amid an enforcement crack by the Trump administration.

“Under my new executive order, I am presenting a request under the Independence of Information Act that when and where enforcement activities have taken place in LA, identified and arrested or detained,” Bass wrote In Friday’s post on X.

He said, “We will also request to give information about how much these raids have spent the taxpayers across the country,” he said.

The order instructs departments to plan preparations for immigration enforcement within 2 weeks and set up a work group with local police, mayor’s office, immigrant rights organizations and community leaders to gather feedback and additional guidance to the answers of federal officials.

“We are a proud city of immigrants, and indicate with the Trump administration that they will remove their chaotic approach, making sure that we deploy every resource and equipment available within the city to ensure that we are supporting immigrant communities,” Bass said.

“We will continue legal relief through the courts, and I am issuing orders to all general managers to increase their response and support to immigrant communities. I will never accept these illegal and chaotic raids and will continue to do all that I can protect the rights of people of Los Angeles.”

The new remedy formally comes a day after the city Join a case Against the Trump administration about the immigration raid in the local area.

Large groups of residents gathered to oppose the raid of June, resulting in dozens of detained, including the president of a local labor union.

The President sent the National Guard and Marine to reduce the protests.
