“This fossil comes from an era before the mass extinction that erases the dinosaurs, and it offers a rare window in the ecosystem that was once present just below the modern-day Denver,” Hagadorn said.

The fossil bone has been identified as the vertebrae of a vegetarian dinosaur, according to the museum, stating that the bone is in late cratesius rocks that are dated about 67.5 million years ago.

The DMNS was part of the team, director of Earth and Space Science, part of the team who identified the bone and said that it could be “the most unusual dinosaur discovery” which he was ever part.

O’Coner said, “It is exceptionally rare to find any fossil not only as part of the drilling project, but this discovery provided an excellent collaborative opportunity to create an article for the Museum Earth Sciences Team.”

He Article“Denver’s deepest dinosaur,” was published in June in scientist Journal Rocky Mountain Geology. Research was led by DMNS PostDoctor Scholar Dr. Holgar Peterman did it.

“This fossil outlines the highly fossil nature of the entire D1 sequence (Denver formation) and enhances the diversity of dinosaurs known from the Denver Metropolitan region,” reads a fraction from the essence of the article.

Fossil bone is now currently on display In DMNS your “Search Kishore Rex” exhibition.
