Rookie Cooper Flagg has 51-point night in Mavericks’ loss

Flagg, who is 19 years, 103 days old, was pulled for a stretch late in the fourth quarter after he had 45 points by assistant coach Frank Vogel, who was filling in for ousted head coach Jason Kidd.

But after returning, Flagg hit a corner 3-pointer, then scored 50 points with a bucket and a foul, leading to a free throw, and came out of the game to a standing ovation. He finished with 24 points in the fourth quarter.

Flagg went 19 of 30 from the field, including 6 of 9 from long range, and made all seven free throws.

According to ESPN Research, he is the ninth player to score 50 or more points in a game and the first player to do so since Brandon Jennings scored 55 points during the 2009–10 season.
