Phoenix–free agent wide receiver odell beckham jr. I want to return New York Giants. The Giants are willing to at least consider signing Beckham for a second trip with the team.
After the 33-year-old Beckham reiterated his desire to reunite with the Giants at a flag football event last week, his former coach at least seemed open to the possibility.
“The obvious answer is you’ll look at every option,” Giants coach John Harbaugh said Monday during a coaches breakfast at the annual league meeting. “And if Odell is an option, we’ll definitely consider him.”
Harbaugh said he has a strong relationship with Beckham after spending time together in Baltimore during the 2023 season. Beckham had 35 catches for 565 yards and three touchdowns that season.
But he has played only nine games in the last two years. He was suspended for six games in 2025 for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs and then was not signed for the remainder of the season.
He would need Harbaugh’s approval to bring him back to the NFL and New York.
“He and I talk. We send messages,” Harbaugh said. “We’ve maintained a really great relationship. He’s one of my favorite people in the world. It’s not like you don’t talk to people about things like that. And of course we did.”
Beckham seems more interested than the Giants to date. New York re-signs veteran wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins and added darnell mooney And calvin austin iii In free agency since last month.
But the veteran receiver has support from some current veteran players. Multiple sources told ESPN that the quarterback jackson dart and wide receiver malik nabors The team has informed that they would support the addition of Beckham. Dartt mentioned earlier this offseason that he had talked to Beckham about Harbaugh after he was hired as the Giants coach. Nabors recently took to Instagram and publicly petitioned for Beckham.
“Let’s play together,” Nabors commented on one of Beckham’s Instagram posts.
Nabors and Beckham are LSU products and already have a relationship.
Meanwhile, Harbaugh said the Giants are still a work in progress. They haven’t adjusted their roster. He left open the possibility that Beckham could become an option at some point.
“We’ll just have to see how it all plays out. What’s best for him, what’s best for the Giants. That’s the No. 1 thing. It’s what’s best for our team and any player. If he helps you make a better team and can make you better, you’ll push him.”
“We’ll just have to see where he goes,” the coach said.
Beckham has been training in Arizona in preparation for this season. He insisted he wants to play this season, and he impressed at the Fanatics Flag Football Classic in Los Angeles earlier this month.
“Hopefully we’ll get a chance to play this year and this is kind of a starting point,” he told sports show host Kay Adams in an interview before the event.
Adams offered the possibility of playing with the Giants and Darts. This piqued Beckham’s interest.
He said, “It’s weird you say that. That sounds great; if that opportunity comes up, I’d love to do that. I’d be excited about it.” “[Dart’s] a good guy. He is young. She likes to dance. I like all that. So it seems like he likes to have fun… if I get the chance.”
