NHL reporter Jesse Pierce and his three children died in a house fire in Minnesota on Saturday, the league said Sunday.

“The entire NHL.com team is devastated and heartbroken by the deaths of Jessi and her children,” Bill Price, vice president and editor-in-chief of NHL.com, said in a statement. “Jesse’s love for his family and hockey was evident in the energy and passion he brought to his work for us. He was such a pleasure to talk to and work with. He will be greatly missed.”
In a statement the NHL added: “The entire National Hockey League family offers our prayers and deepest condolences to the Pierce family on the passing of Jesse Pierce and his three young children. Jesse loved our game and was a valuable member of the NHL.com team for a decade. We will miss him greatly.”

Firefighters respond to a house fire in White Bear Lake, Minnesota Saturday morning. Neighbors called 911 and reported seeing flames coming from the roof. The White Bear Lake Fire Department said firefighters found one adult, three children and a dog inside the home, all of whom were dead. The department did not release the names of the victims in its statement Saturday.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
“Our hearts go out to those involved in this tragedy,” Fire Chief Greg Peterson said in the statement. “We ask for the opportunity to give our community an opportunity to come together and support each other during these difficult times.”
Wilde mourned his loss on social media on Sunday.
“Jesse was a kind, compassionate man who cared deeply for his family and those around him. He served as an ambassador for the game of hockey while covering the Wild and the NHL,” the social media post read.
Minnesota is known as the “State of Hockey” and has been the Wild’s largest fan base since their inception in 2000. The North Stars moved to Dallas in the early 1990s to become the Stars.
