Jorginho slams singer Chappell Roan after ‘upsetting situation’

Jorginho, who plays for Flamengo, posted an Instagram story on Saturday explaining that his wife and daughter were in Sao Paulo for the Lollapalooza music festival to see Roan, of whom his daughter is a big fan, headlining.

The midfielder explained that his wife and daughter were having breakfast in a hotel when he saw Roan eating at a nearby table and his excited daughter simply walked past him, smiled and went back to her seat.

“While they were having breakfast, a large security guard came to their table and started talking to both of my wives in a very aggressive manner. [Catherine Harding] And my daughter, saying that she should not allow my daughter to ‘insult’ or ‘harass’ other people,” Jorginho said.

“He even said he would file a complaint against them at the hotel, while my 11-year-old daughter was sitting there crying.

“My daughter was extremely shocked and cried a lot.”

After receiving backlash on social media, Roan responded in a video explaining his “half of the story”.

“What happened today happened to a mother and child who were involved with a security guard who is not my personal security,” Roan said.

“I don’t hate people who are fans of my music. I don’t hate kids. It’s crazy.”

“I’m sorry for the mother and baby that someone was assuming you would do something, and I’m really sorry if you felt uncomfortable. You didn’t deserve this.

“I didn’t even see. I didn’t even see any woman or child. No one came near me. No one bothered me.”

Rio de Janeiro’s mayor, Eduardo Cavaliere, has jumped to Jorginho’s defence, writing in a post on Twitter that he wants to ban the singer from performing in his city.
