Jasmine CrockettThe security guard shot and killed by a SWAT team in Texas was captured on video in a police standoff moments before his death.
The Dallas Police Department held a press conference on Monday and released dashcam footage showing what happened diamon-mazarre robinsonFatal encounter with law enforcement on March 11. Robinson had been working security for Crockett since 2023, when he began his first term in Congress as a Texas representative.
In the footage, police say, Robinson was driving a car with stolen plates, leading Dallas PD officers on a chase that ended inside a hospital parking garage. As you can see, Robinson is surrounded by officers who order him out of his vehicle and tell him to drop his gun.
Robinson slowly exits the passenger side of his car with his hands up, and smoke begins to billow from the car’s interior… then he pulls something around his waist. A policeman yells, “Don’t reach! Don’t do that! Don’t do that!” The video stops before Robinson arrives shot to death By the police.
Police said Robinson had several felony warrants as well as a parole violation warrant for impersonating a police officer and possessing a stolen license plate. Robinson is also known by several nicknames, including “Mike King”.
Crockett released a statement Monday saying his team followed all protocols outlined by the House of Representatives for the additional security contract. She said that Robinson had been cleared for appointment, but she knew him as Mike King.
He also said he was concerned that Robinson was able to circumvent the congressional appointment system and called on the US Capitol Police to begin protecting members of Congress.
