What’s the key for America to win it all?
gonzalez:The bullpen needs to continue to move forward. This was the key to the United States defeating the Dominican Republic in the semi-finals tyler rogers, David Bednar And mason miller Getting out of trouble in the middle and end of the innings. Given the competition, this final game will likely be close. Nolan McLean’s inexperience and recent struggles probably mean the bullpen will have to cover a good portion of it. And it may have to do so without Miller, the game’s best closer, who will be pitching for the fourth time in a span of eight days.
Pasan: Team USA needs to hit. Thanks to dozens of All-Star performances spanning the lineup from top to bottom, the U.S. has scored six, five, five and two in its last four games, respectively. This is due more to its pitching and great defense than its offense with the Dominican Republic. Fast forward to early, and even if U.S. manager Mark DeRosa is limited in his bullpen options, the plethora of U.S. arms will be difficult to handle even a lineup as deep as Venezuela’s.
Castillo: McLean bounced back from his difficult outing in pool play against Italy to relieve pressure on the bullpen. The right-hander, who has made all eight major league starts, gave up two home runs in three innings in Team USA’s upset loss. He will be limited to about 70 pitches. Four or five good innings should put America in the driver’s seat.
Who will be the game’s MVP if the United States wins?
gonzalez: I’ve mentioned it before and I’ll mention it again: bryce harper. He has struggled mightily, taking second shots every now and then bobby wit jr. And aaron judge In this tournament, going 4 for 24 with one extra-base hit and eight strikeouts. But he loves the big moments, and I think he deserves it. This will be the game if Harper is alive.
Pasan: Bobby Witt Jr. has done almost everything in this WBC. His defense at shortstop has been fantastic, from his soft hands to his range and the ball fired from his arm. He has stolen three bases and taken extra bases at every turn. He’s also drawing walks, which has been Witt’s weakness throughout his career. What he hasn’t done in this WBC is hit and take home runs Eduardo Rodriguez This will serve as a reminder at the beginning of the game that the entire Bobby Witt Jr. experience is worth watching.
Castillo: Aaron Judge, after shaking off his postseason woes with a stellar performance in October, has had his moments in this tournament as well. At the plate, the three-time American League MVP has two home runs, six walks and a .979 OPS. On defense, he saved a run by throwing with his arm in the semi-finals against the Dominican Republic. Fernando Tatis Jr.. at third base to end the third inning juan soto Ahead. Judge, the American captain, will have his chance on Tuesday. There is a possibility that he will come.
What’s the key for Venezuela to win it all?
gonzalez: Production from the bottom half of the lineup. This includes Gleyber Torres, salvador perez (assuming he starts at catcher), jackson chourio And willier abreu. None of them have necessarily caught fire yet. He is reaching out on a group basis and providing opportunities to RBI Ronald Acuna Jr.., Maikel Garcia And louis erez Will be important in the finale.
Pasan: Play clean baseball. Venezuela did not commit a single error in the field of play in their six games – their only mistake was catcher’s interference. William Contreras in the sixth inning of his first game – and the certainty of his infield and the ground covered by his outfield put enormous pressure on opposing batsmen. Team USA is aware of Venezuela’s brand of baseball and understands that nothing will be easy. And that, in itself, is a win in any game.
Castillo: Putting together the perfect pitching plan. Even if Rodriguez pitches four or five innings for Venezuela, manager Omar Lopez needs his bullpen to handle a loaded American lineup. Lopez pressed the right buttons on Monday, as six pitchers held Team Italy scoreless over the final 7⅔ innings after the starter kidder monterodeparture of. While five of the six relievers did not reach 30 pitches and are eligible to pitch Tuesday, their clubs can restrict their usage — and decide whether they are cleared to pitch. This will not be an easy task for Lopez.
Who will be the MVP of the game if Venezuela wins?
gonzalez: Arraez, Venezuela’s No. 3 hitter, has been exceptional this tournament, giving up eight hits, two walks and driving in 10 runs in 25 plate appearances. He occupies a key spot in the lineup, batting behind Acuna and Garcia. If Venezuela overcomes the overwhelming talent on Team USA’s roster, it will be because Araiz unleashed them when needed.
Pasan: jackson chourio batting at number nine for Venezuela, which will be as follows bobby wit jr. Batting ninth for Team USA. Chourio was sacrificed in the semifinal game, something he has done twice in his two major league seasons. Regardless of where he is placed in the lineup, Chourio is one of the most dynamic young players in the big leagues and a prime candidate to break out. His two-out single Monday started a streak of four straight base hits that sent Venezuela into the final. The 22-year-old is ready to deliver even more on Tuesday.
Castillo: Acuna, when healthy, could be the best player on the field against anyone, including Team USA. And he has made his presence felt in this tournament. In the quarterfinals against Japan, he hit a leadoff home run. His heroics to beat down a two-out RBI infield single in Monday’s win over Italy changed the game. He has five tools and a lot of energy. Venezuela needs to shine to overcome the crisis.
Which team do you think will take the title — and why?
Gonzalez: The United States came very close to the championship three years ago and made it their mission to strengthen the roster to get the job done. Given that opportunity, Team USA is not going to let it pass.
Pasan: Team USA. The number of options DeRosa has available to him, both with his lineup and his pitching staff, allows the US to win the tactical battle. In a game that should be close, the little things will matter. And despite the crowd likely leaning heavily in Venezuela’s favor, Americans have shown an ability to quiet the noise, put their heads down, and go to work. They behave like lunch-pail stars, steady and hard-working, and that’s the kind of thing that, when combined with tremendous talent and matchup advantages, should lead to a championship.
Castillo: Team USA. America is more talented and better rested. The American would win his second WBC title, after falling short three years later.
