Padres say Mason Miller’s availability for WBC final TBD

San Diego Padres Manager Craig Stammen said the decision was made on the availability of the All-Star closer. mason miller Team USA is scheduled to play Tuesday in its World Baseball Classic championship game against Venezuela.

Miller helped close the door on the Dominican Republic in a 2-1 victory in the semifinals on Sunday, securing the final six outs of the game. Stammen said a decision for Tuesday’s game will be made after evaluating how Miller is feeling.

“Not ruled out, not decided,” Stammen said Monday at the Padres’ spring training camp in Arizona. “What we do with each pitcher is we evaluate them after their outing, see how they feel and then calculate when their next outing will be. So he’s in the same boat.”

Miller has played a key role in Team USA’s success in the tournament and has made saves in two of the team’s victories.
