According to Card Ladder, the Judge sale tied for the seventh-most expensive sports card sale and is more than 16 times the previous high paid for a Judge card – $324,000 for the same card through the PWCC marketplace (now owned by Fanatics, rebranded as Fanatics Collect) in 2022. The Judge Superfractor was also sold through Goldin Auctions in 2020 for $157,200.
“We are incredibly honored to make this record-breaking deal and be a part of such a significant moment in the history of the hobby,” Fanatics Collect said in a statement. “As a company, we value our deep relationships with our collectors, both their trust and our expertise will help us continue to set sales records in the months and years to come.”
Fanatics noted that the buyer and seller, who were represented by sports card and collectibles firm Acquire, “wish to remain private.”
The sale also set a record for cards sold by Fanatics Collect, previously held by a signed, one-of-a-kind numbered card. shohei ohtani A game-used card with a gold MLB logo patch sold for $3 million in December. That sale and the Trout and Judge cards alone represent modern baseball card sales of over $3 million.
Fanatics currently has a card up for auction that could join that group. On-card autographed, a one-of-a-kind marked 2025 Topps Chrome Dual MVP Gold Logoman Patch card – featuring a game-worn gold MLB logo patch and signatures of Judge and Ohtani, who has won three MVP awards since 2022 – sits at $1.2 million with one week to go in the auction.
