Jackson Jr. said he listened to Obama, Biden and Clinton sing praises of Jesse Jackson for several hours at Friday’s memorial service — claiming all three men didn’t even know his father.
Junior also said that Jackson “maintained a tense relationship with the political system”, noting that it did not matter whether the president was white or black. He said his father wanted “our message” to reach out to help the underprivileged and the disrespected – while also seeking a consistent, prophetic voice that would not cut across party lines or sell out people.
Sure, all three men have met Jackson and talked to him about their respective careers… but Junior’s issue was that he didn’t understand the man on a deep level.
On Friday, Obama, Biden and Clinton eulogized with Obama at Jackson’s service in Chicago expressing their dissatisfaction With the current situation of the country.
Obama said every day was “a new attack on our democratic institutions.” He also said… “People in high positions have told us to fear each other and to attack each other, and that some Americans matter more than others, and some don’t matter at all.”
Biden agreed, chiding the Trump administration for not sharing “any values that we have.”
However, Clinton curbed politics during her speech and instead talked about her warm relationship with Jackson, despite Jesse Jr. saying the contrary.
