PHILADELPHIA — Coach Nick Sirianni indicated there was mutual interest between the receivers aj brown and continued his career with the team eaglesBut neither he nor general manager Howie Roseman would commit the Browns to their roster next season.
“Yeah, my expectation is that he wants to stay here. And obviously you want such good players in your building,” Sirianni said during a session with local media before the combine.
“Like Howie said, good players are hard to find in this league. AJ is a great player and AJ is a good teammate and AJ is a good person. Does he want to be here? Yes. Do I want him to stay here? Yes.”
When asked directly if Brown would be here next season, Sirianni’s response was not as straightforward.
He said, “Will AJ be here next season? I think we’re still in a situation where, like, I can’t guarantee how anything is going to be next season. I’m thinking I’m going to coach next season but you can’t guarantee anything about tomorrow.”
Brown has been the subject of trade speculation this offseason following a 2025 campaign in which he openly expressed his frustration with the offensive operation.
However, Brown called Philadelphia “home” and said he was “fortunate” to be one of the leaders of the Eagles offense. During an appearance on Micah Parson’s podcast during Super Bowl week, he said he was excited about some of the changes on the coaching staff.
Meanwhile, Roseman reiterated his stance that “it’s really hard to find great players” like Brown.
“From my perspective, we want to improve in all areas and you can’t do it by subtracting,” he said.
But Roseman spoke of a broader operating philosophy, indicating he would consider trade offers for him.
“I think you go into a league year hearing offers for everything and anything,” he said. “If someone is going to give you something that you didn’t expect and you wouldn’t even negotiate with, I don’t think you’re necessarily doing your job or really serving the team you’re with.
“You never know what someone is willing to do. Certainly, we’ve been in situations where there were people who we didn’t even think we could get an offer that’s very good, and then you balance that with what you can get there.
“Without getting into specifics about any players, we’re always listening and we’re always kind of open. There’s very few things I’ll let go without hearing what it means, because how much does it hurt to hear that?”
Brown, 28, has been arguably the best receiver in Eagles history, posting two 1,400-yard seasons while helping the team to a pair of Super Bowls in four years. Last season he had 78 catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns.
If the Eagles trade Brown before June 1, they would take a dead-cap hit of more than $40 million, while a trade completed after that date would take a dead-cap hit of less than $20 million. According to the roster management system, the team that acquires Brown will be responsible for his $29 million salary in 2026 and approximately $4 million in guaranteed money in 2027.
