History is in store for American snowboarder Chloe Kim at the Winter Olympics on Thursday.
Kim will compete in the women’s snowboard halfpipe final and have a chance to become the first snowboarder to win three consecutive Olympic gold medals. Running with a brace on her left shoulder due to a torn labrum last month, she qualified for the final on Wednesday. Setting a tentative date with destiny, the 25-year-old player still managed to stay in first place. Shaun White is the only Olympian to win three gold medals in snowboard halfpipe competition, but he could not achieve them consecutively. (He won in 2006, 2010, and 2018.)
The preliminary round of men’s ice hockey begins with the United States and Canada. The U.S. team hasn’t won a gold medal in men’s Olympic hockey since 1980, but this year it’s gold medal or bust. “That’s the hope,” captain Auston Matthews Said.
