The violent attacks last week against Reps. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) have heightened already high concerns about lawmakers’ safety, as deepening political polarization and incendiary rhetoric have heightened the dangers members face. An unknown substance was sprayed on Omar while he was addressing voters at the Town Hall on Tuesday night.
