According to Payton, Nicks was injured on the second to last play of the game.
nix has a backup jarrett stidham.
“[Stidham] Ready,” Payton said. “We’ll be ready for the next challenge.”
Stidham, in his third season with Denver and sixth overall in the NFL, has appeared in one game this season and has not attempted a pass since 2023.
Nix finished 26 of 46 for 279 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 29 yards on 12 carries in the win.
