NBA suspended Sacramento Kings guard dennis schroder Three games on Saturday to try and attack luka doncic Following the Kings’ loss to the Lakers on December 28 in Los Angeles.
Doncic and Schroder attacked each other during various points in the Kings’ 125–101 loss. During a timeout, Doncic taunted Schroder, saying he “should have signed that contract” in reference to the four-year, $82 million extension Schroder had refused from the Lakers a few years earlier.
Things appeared to calm down once the game ended. But Schroder left the visitors’ locker room at Crypto.com Arena, looked at Doncic and the anger flared up again inside the tunnel across from the home bench.
Forty minutes after the buzzer sounded, Schroder went after Doncic and told Doncic that he couldn’t call him a “b—-” on the court and pretend everything was fine off the court. The NBA concluded that Schroder attempted to assault Doncic.
Lakers Center deandre ayton Schröder tried to be pulled away from the confrontation, while a stunned Doncic attempted to get away due to security interference.
Schroder was eventually escorted to the team bus as Kings coach Doug Christie and several teammates sought answers about the sudden drama.
Doncic and his father, Sasa, eventually got into their nearby car and drove away, as Schröder and his Kings teammates prepared to board the team bus.
The Lakers and Kings will meet again on Monday night in Sacramento. Schroder will be suspended for the matchup.
