Manchester United The club has confirmed it has sacked boss Ruben Amorim.
The announcement came less than 24 hours on Monday morning after Amorim held a surprise news conference following the 1-1 draw. leeds united in which he urged United owners to “do their bit”.

According to sources, Amorim did not take the conversation seriously on the topic of his preferred 3-4-3 system and the possible evolution of the team’s playing style.
Following the meeting, Amorim took part in a tense news conference with journalists before leaving the club’s Carrington training ground.
He withdrew from a scheduled broadcast interview citing “personal reasons” and the defense lisandro martinez Had to take his place.

However, it is difficult to avoid the sense that the timing of the move had a lot to do with Amorim’s news conference at Elland Road and the taunts aimed at the club and Wilcox in particular.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday ahead of the trip to Leeds, the Portuguese coach expressed his frustration at the lack of movement in the January transfer window.
And after the game on Sunday, he went a step further, telling club bosses that he “wanted to be a manager, not a coach” and also took direct aim at Wilcox to “do his job”.
Club sources told ESPN that, as far as they were concerned, Amorim was “in full agreement” with their transfer plan.
They emphasize that the decision has been made to “give a capable and committed team the best possible chance to succeed.”
Amorim has overseen a turbulent 14 months at United since succeeding Eric ten Hag as boss in November 2024.
They won 24 of their 63 matches and drew only 15 Premier League,

“Ruben Amorim has left his role as head coach of Manchester United,” a club statement released on Monday said.
“With Manchester United sitting sixth in the Premier League, the club’s leadership have reluctantly decided that the time is right to make changes.
“This will give the team the best opportunity for the highest possible Premier League finish.
“The club would like to thank Ruben for his contribution to the club and wish him all the best for the future.”
