With 0.8 seconds remaining, Bedard attempted a draw to give Chicago one last chance, but was knocked down by the Blues center. brayden schennBedard clutched his right shoulder and immediately walked to the locker room with a trainer, while his teammates remained on the ice and sitting on the bench,
“He won’t play tomorrow,” Chicago coach Jeff Blashill said of the team’s game at home against Detroit on Saturday night. “I won’t know more details tomorrow, so don’t ask me tomorrow. Sometime over the weekend, I’ll get more information, so I’ll probably have more information on Monday.”
Asked if Bedard’s injury would only be short-term, Blashill provided few details.
“I would hate to say that without knowing the details,” he said. “Until we hear back again, he won’t play tomorrow.”
Bedard was fifth in the NHL in points before the game and assisted on both of Chicago’s goals in the loss. He now has 12 goals and 25 assists.
He was left frustrated when the Blues iced the puck and put half a second back on the clock. Blashill said he would have to watch the play again, but his initial impression was that nothing dirty happened in the play.
“Honestly, I think it’s a freak accident,” Blashill said.
