Georgia Coach Kirby Smart fires backup offensive lineman Nair Daniel on Monday, a day after his arrest after allegedly driving more than 150 mph while trying to flee police in Commerce, Georgia.
Daniels, of Newark, New Jersey, faces more than a dozen criminal charges and was being held Monday at the Jackson County Jail in Jefferson, Georgia, on $21,000 bond.
According to a police incident report obtained by ESPN, Daniels is charged with two felony counts of second-degree cruelty to children and two felony counts of fleeing or attempting to flee a police officer.
According to the report, Daniels fled from police with his two younger siblings in the car.
He faces 10 additional traffic-related misdemeanors, including reckless driving and driving over the limit.

Daniels’ mother, Brandi Canada-Green, was also charged in the incident, according to Commerce Police Chief Jeff Drossman.
According to Drossman, a police officer had stopped a Nissan Rogue that Canada-Green was driving for running a stop sign. The police report states that the BMW M5 driven by Daniels passed the officer traveling at more than 100 mph in a 25 mph speed zone.
The officer left Canada-Green’s car and pursued a BMW driven by Daniels.
“At this time, the initial car that the officer attempted to stop crossed the roadway in front of the Commerce Police Department supervisor and was preventing the supervisor from assisting the officer,” Drossman said in an emailed statement. “The observer attempted to stop the initial car and it refused to proceed.”
Drossman said Canada-Green’s car reached speeds of more than 100 mph while he tried to flee police.
The officer spotted Daniels’ BMW, which reports say was traveling at more than 150 mph on U.S. Interstate 85, and the pursuit broke off. According to the report, at one point during the chase, Canada-Green called her daughter into the BMW and “told her kids to stop running from the police and ‘get your ass back in commerce.'”
Officers stood on the side of I-85 and waited for Canada-Green’s car to pass. He was stopped and arrested.
Canada-Green was charged with one felony count of attempting to elude a police officer and five misdemeanor counts, including willful obstruction of law enforcement officers and reckless driving.
A UGA athletics department official later brought Daniels back to Commerce, where he turned himself in to police. The officer said that when Daniels exited the BMW he “immediately smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle”.
When the officer asked Daniels why he ran away, he said, “He didn’t want his mother to get a ticket.”
When the officer informed Daniels that both he and his mother were going to jail, Daniels said, “It just gets worse.”
The officer tried to explain the seriousness of the situation and what might have happened to Daniels and his younger siblings while traveling at that speed, and Daniels reportedly said, “Y’all can’t be driving.”
“It appears that Nyer did not care about the situation he had put himself in or the fact that he had endangered the lives of his two younger siblings,” the officer wrote in the report.
