Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry The two sides announced Thursday that they are parting ways and ending their long-standing partnership.
Curry’s standalone effort, the Curry brand, will proceed independently. According to the plan his shoes will be released through Under Armor during 2026, but now he is entering sneaker free agency.
Curry left Nike and signed with Under Armor in 2013, several years into his NBA career but before becoming an MVP and global celebrity.
“Under Armor believed in me early in my career and gave me the space to create something bigger and more impactful than shoes,” Curry said in a news release. “I will always be grateful for that.”
Sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania that Curry expects to have the freedom to wear other brands and pursue new partnership deals next year.
“What the Curry brand stands for, what I stand for, and my commitment to that mission will never change,” Curry said in the release. “It’s only getting stronger. I’m excited for a future that is focused on aggressive growth with a continued commitment to continuing to deliver performance for the next generation.”
