In John Cena’s final performance in his hometown of Boston, he won the Intercontinental Championship – in many ways it was the final piece of the puzzle of what many will call the most illustrious career in WWE history.
In a night featuring multiple title matches and two title changes, fans were treated to the World Champions fighting together on the same side, the official start of a 16-wrestler tournament to become Cena’s final opponent, and a surprise return at the end of the show leading to a Survivor Series: War Games match.

With the victory over “Dirty” Dom Mysterio, Cena completed the WWE Grand Slam – winning each of the singles and tag team championships during his wrestling career. The crowd loved it. Dom’s father, fellow WWE superstar Rey Mysterio, who feuded with his son on last week’s episode, tweeted “LOL” in reaction to the loss. Cena lost due to Dom’s usual cheating tactics to win. And Cena got to say once again in his hometown, “The champion is here.”
After watching this match, I wouldn’t be disappointed if Dirty Dom was Cena’s final opponent.
How perfect would it be for Dom to completely win the tournament, then defeat Cena to regain the Intercontinental Title and send the greatest WWE Superstar in history into retirement?
Dominic will be a future world champion. All this will be stamped as a foregone conclusion.

After the brawl, Ripley had two words to say: “War game!” Apparently the first match of the Survivor Series has been booked.
