Philadelphia– eagles RECEIVER aj brown General manager Howie Roseman said Tuesday that it was very important for the team to move him at the trade deadline.
“I think it’s hard to trade great players when you’re trying to be a great team, and AJ Brown is a great player,” Roseman said of the team captain in a videoconference with reporters. “He wears the ‘C’ for a reason. He’s an important part of this team, of this organization. He cares about winning, he cares about his teammates, and I think when you’re a team like ours that is waiting for an opportunity to compete for a championship, you can’t get rid of guys like that.”
The 28-year-old Brown is averaging 56.4 receiving yards per game this season and has expressed frustration with the state of the Eagles’ offense on multiple occasions.
He posted a photo on Instagram after his breakout two-touchdown performance against minnesota vikings in mid-October with a caption reading, “Using me but not using me,” leading to speculation about whether it was directed at the team. Brown gained 1,000 receiving yards in each of his three seasons in Philadelphia and has been a part of two teams that reached the Super Bowl, including last year’s team that won it all.
“I feel very fortunate to have him on our team and look forward to the second half of the season with him,” Roseman said.
