
New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani (D) said that voting for Andrew Cuomo is the same as voting for President Trump.
Mamdani said, “Donald Trump has chosen his candidate. The name of that candidate is Andrew Cuomo.” told MSNBC’s Ari Melber. In an interview broadcast on Monday. “And New Yorkers have a chance to choose their fighter. And I believe that candidate should be me.”
Mamdani is the frontrunner in Tuesday’s general election against Cuomo, who is running an independent campaign, and Republican Curtis Sliwa. Trump on his Truth social platform on Monday evening called Mamdani is a “communist” and said he would stop federal funding “besides the minimum necessary” for the country’s largest city. The president said that a vote for Sliwa “is a vote for Mamdani” and that New York City residents should vote for Cuomo “regardless of whether you personally want to.” [him] Or not.”
