A mayor in the Canadian province of Ontario defended an advertisement paid for by his province that included Previous Comments President Reagan would criticize President Trump’s tariffs.

Trump halted trade talks with Canada last week after the Ontario government pulled the ad. The launch of the ad earlier this month marked the beginning of a “new ad campaign” from the Ontario government targeting its southern neighbors against the tariffs that have been a focus of Trump’s second term.
The ad quickly received criticism due to its use of spliced audio of Reagan’s comments on tariffs. The President has described as “fake” the advertisement in a social media post that canceled trade talks with his country’s northern neighbour.
“Based on their despicable behavior, all trade negotiations with Canada are terminated,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
After this, on Saturday, Trump imposed 10 percent more tariff on Canada than the current rate. Advertisement broadcast During the World Series, currently being played by the Los Angeles Dodgers and Canada’s own Toronto Blue Jays.
