before he was President TrumpThat was New Jersey Generals owner Donald Trump… and a cool memento from that time is now coming up for auction!!
Those too young may remember that Trump was the majority owner of the United States Football League’s New Jersey Generals in 1984… and he had his own white, red, and blue team jacket to prove it.

The coat features the Generals logo patch, Trump’s name stitched in red on the chest, and the original O’SHEA label sewn inside the neckline.
So, what happened to the USFL?? Trump infamously filed a lawsuit against the NFL in an attempt to force a merger. That suit ended with a “victory in name only” and a $1 verdict, which was later tripled to $3 due to antitrust laws.
Many believed that Trump’s actions played a major factor in the collapse of the USFL in 1986. The league lost more than $163 million.
There were many notable people in the USFL — jim kelly, steve young, reggie whiteand Trump’s current friend/former general, Ambassador to the United States Hershel Walker.
