Live updates: Trump to head to Asia amid shutdown standoff

President Trump on Friday will travel to For his first visit to the Asia region since returning to the White House. The visit comes at a time when the government shutdown continues for the 24th day with no end in sight.

Trump will depart for Malaysia this evening to attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit before flying to Japan to meet the country’s new prime minister.
