Miami Gardens, Florida — miami dolphins star receiver tyreek hill He has not yet decided whether to stop playing football after suffering a season-ending knee injury New York Jets On 29 September.
In an interview on the podcast of Terron Armstead, Hill’s former Dolphins teammate, Hill said he would make up his mind about his career at some point. At the moment, he is focused on recovering from surgery he had a few weeks ago to repair significant damage to his left knee, including a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
“At the end of the day, I feel like this decision is based on how I feel and where my mindset is at this point in time,” Hill said on the podcast. “I’m happy with my career. I love playing football. I love it, but it takes a lot. Mentally it takes a lot on you, physically it takes a lot on you.
“I’m at the point now where I need to have a conversation with mom, family, everyone. The decision will be taken wherever my mind is at that time, but I know right now, I don’t have time to live in the moment.”
He was injured when Hill made a catch and was tackled near the Jets’ sideline in the third quarter of Miami’s Week 4 win. He was running towards the shore and had planted his left foot, and when he was being pulled down his knee got twisted.
The Dolphins placed him on season-ending injured reserve on October 1.
Hill said, “When I was attacked I immediately tried to get up … I saw that my leg was twisted.” “I immediately started laughing because I’ve been able to play this game for 10 years, really my whole life, and I’ve been blessed with great talents and great gifts. The amount of support I get from my family is amazing. So I wasn’t even really thinking about the injury. I was thinking about the great times I’ve had playing this game.”
Hill, 31, has played 10 NFL seasons. He posted consecutive 1,700-yard receiving seasons in his first two years with Miami, including a league-leading 1,799 yards in 2023. The five-time All-Pro entered this season with the goal of recapturing that elite form after a relatively down year in 2024, when he recorded 81 catches for 959 yards — his lowest totals in both categories since 2019.
Whether Hill’s decorated career – which includes a Super Bowl title with Kansas City in 2020 – will continue remains uncertain. His contract with the Dolphins runs through next season.
“I just want to have this moment with my family,” he said. “I don’t want to make any hasty decisions.”
Hill expressed confidence in the Dolphins’ ability to turn things around after falling to 1-6 with last Sunday’s loss in Cleveland. He also defended the quarterback tua tagovailoaJoe is coming off consecutive three-interception games and has recently called out teammates for arriving late to player-led meetings.
Hill said, “You know what it’s like when you’re 1-5 years old. Everyone has something to say.” “Obviously everyone is in the hot seat. It’s a tough situation. When we were winning, things were good. People could say anything, and it would just go out the window. I’m going to support Tua no matter what he’s doing because he’s my brother. I can feel what he’s saying. That should show people he wants to win.”
