oregon Every week brings heat with its uniforms, but few of its many additions have a backstory like the threads it will wear in Week 9. wisconsin,
On Sunday, Oregon unveiled its “Grateful Ducks” uniforms, a tribute to the legendary band The Grateful Dead.
The Grateful Dead have a deep connection to the Ducks’ hometown of Eugene – the band played at Autzen Stadium 10 times Between 1974 and 1994Over the summer, Oregon announced that the stadium theme for the school’s Week 9 game against the Badgers – “Tie-Die Out” – would honor the band.
Well, this week the Ducks’ uniforms will be based on similar themes. At first glance, the Grateful Ducks threads look like a simple black and green Oregon combination. But the details are both abundant and aesthetically excellent.
Most notably, the green numbers and trademark “O” logo on the helmet feature a tie-dye pattern. The jerseys have distinct patches on the shoulders that combine the school colors with the band’s “Steal Your Face” motif. Inside the collar and on the back of the helmet is a line of the Grateful Dead’s “dancing bears” – who are swapping ducks for bears.
